Methods and compositions for the increase of yield in plants US10171498
[T. Michael Spencer, Thomas R. Adams, Richard J. Daines, William J. Gordon-Kamm, Albert P. Kausch, Peggy G. Lemaux, Catherine J. MacKey, Mary L. Mangano, Thomas B. Rice] The present invention provides methods for increasing yield in plants by introducing a gene encoding phosphinothricin acetyltransferase. The invention further involves a method of transferring said increased yield phenotype to other lines of plants by crossing. A maize transformant is identified in which the phosphinothricin acetyltransferase gene integration event is correlated with increased yield.

Adjustable bookmark for paperback and hard cover books NCL 2 ECL 1 NDR 1 NFG 5 STA CT ZIP 06370 CLAS EDF 3 US06/562230
[Mangano Mary G.(1525 E. Putnam Apt. 305,Old Greenwich)] An adjustable bookmark for paperback and hard cover books including an integral non-stretchable member having an adjustable loop portion and a marker portion, the adjustable loop portion being adapted to fit around one cover of a book, adjustable loop defining member affixed to one end of the non-stretchable member and operatively engaging another portion of the non-stretchable member to define the adjustable loop portion, the remainder of the non-stretchable member extending from the adjustable loop defining member defining the marker portion, a decorative member attached to the marker portion at a position remote from the end of the adjustable loop portion so that when the size of the adjustable loop is adjusted by moving the adjustable loop defining member to fit tightly around one cover of book and the adjustable loop defining member is positioned adjacent the top of such a cover, the marker portion will extend downwardly from the adjustable loop defining member and may be positioned to mark a desired page of the book with the decorative member aiding in pulling the marker portion downwardly. Further, the marker portion is dimensioned so that the decorative member will extend slightly beyond the bottom of the book when the marker portion is marking the desired page of the book.

METHODS AND APPARATUS TO PERFORM MECHANICAL PROPERTY TESTING PCT/US2018/016186
[POPE, Mary, MANGANO, Elena, MORSE, Jason] 155 Harlem AvenueGlenview, Illinois 60025 Methods and apparatus to perform mechanical property testing are disclosed. An example testing device includes a computing device configured to obtain a measurement value related to the material or component under test. The computing device includes: a display device; an input device; a processor; and memory coupled to the processor to store computer readable instructions which, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to: display, via the display device, a testing mode interface either directly or in response to selection of the testing mode interface at the first interface, the testing mode interface configured to enable selection of a predetermined test definition interface; and in response to selection of the predetermined test definition interface via the input device, display a test interface, the test interface comprising: inputs for a predetermined subset of configurable test parameters of the testing device; and activation of a mechanical property test. Methods and apparatus to perform mechanical property testing are disclosed. Michael(Mystic,CT), Start William G.(North Stonington,CT), Willetts Nancy G.(Niantic,CT)] This invention relates to a reproducible system for the production of stable, genetically transformed maize cells, and to methods of selecting cells that have been transformed. One method of selection disclosed employs the Streptomyces bar gene introduced by microprojectile bombardment into embryogenic maize cells which were grown in suspension cultures, followed by exposure to the herbicide bialaphos. The methods of achieving stable transformation disclosed herein include tissue culture methods and media, methods for the bombardment of recipient cells with the desired transforming DNA, and methods of growing fertile plants from the transformed cells. This invention also relates to the transformed cells and seeds and to the fertile plants grown from the transformed cells and to their pollen.
